John Cena Is Taking Extended WWE Leave After WrestleMania 33

In news that probably has Vince McMahon cursing out some poor intern, John Cena has landed yet another starring role in an upcoming film. The 16-time WWE champion will reprise his role from the 2015 comedy Daddy's Home in the forthcoming sequel.

Cena will star alongside Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Mel Gibson and John Lithgow and we're told this time “figures prominently in the sequel storyline” after only appearing in a small role in the original.

This time around Ferrell and Wahlberg team up to plan the perfect Christmas for their kids when their fathers, played by Gibson and Lithgow arrive. According to Deadline, Cena, who was billed as "Cool Dad" in the first film “shifts the macho dynamics as Dusty (Wahlberg’s character) faces the challenges of being a stepfather in the face of a more ripped rival.”

Hot off the heels of his star-making appearance in Trainwreck and his acclaimed hosting of Saturday Night Live, the wrestler is getting another opportunity to show off his impressive comedic chops.

This is in addition to his rapidly filling Hollywood schedule, as he's already starring in this year's war thriller The Wall, in which he shares the screen with Golden Globes winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson as soldiers pinned down by an enemy sniper. Cena landed a starring role in the comedy The Pact, with Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz, due out in April of next year.

It's worth noting that none of these three movies are WWE productions.

What this means for his wrestling career remains to be seen, but it's obvious the star will have to spend more and more time away from the ring. Is it possible that, despite all his words through the years assuring fans of the contrary that we may be witnessing Cena in the midst of doing exactly what he promised he'd never do, and the one thing his feud with The Rock was built around: abandon the world of pro wrestling for the brighter lights and bigger paychecks of Hollywood?

Secret Revealed: Winner of Brock Lesnar and Goldberg Match

The fight with the Beast Incarnate is said to be Goldberg's last match in the wrestling entertainment company. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the wrestler's contract expires after the title bout with Lesnar at the PPV event.

According to the report, the rematch between Goldberg and Lesnar has been set as the PPV event's main card. This is said to have been planned from the very beginning with Survivor Series 2016, where Goldberg defeated Lesnar in under 90 seconds with two consecutive spears and a jackhammer. The two superstars also collided during the 30-man-over-the-top Royal Rumble. At the PPV, Goldberg eliminated Lesnar.

Goldberg losing the Universal Championship to Lesnar makes sense if the former is set to depart from the WWE following the WrestleMania 33 fight as Vince McMahon will never allow a wrestler to leave as the company's reigning champion. However, as WWE's plans are ever changing, McMahon and Goldberg might mutually decide to extend or renew their contract so the wrestler can fight in the company in the upcoming months.

Meanwhile, Kevin Owens, who fought Goldberg's WrestleMania 33 opponent at Madison Square Garden, has opened up about his loss at the hands of the Beast Incarnate. Owens, who lost the Universal Championship to Goldberg at Fastlane 2017, was destroyed by Lesnar with a series of suplexes and finished off with an F5.

JR ON LESNAR GOLDBERG MATCH

We're just weeks away from WrestleMania 33 and the hype for the event is getting stronger, but there are still concerns over one match at the biggest pay-per-view show of the year.

Goldberg is set to defend his Universal championship against Brock Lesnar in what is expected to be the main event of the show, but fans are worried the match won't be good as The Iconic is able to wrestle for a longer period of time than a couple of minutes.

Kevin Owens speaks about Brock Lesnar

Former Universal Champion, Kevin Owens, has not had a great start to his 2017. The leader of the RAW brand lost his best friend and then his championship when he got totally destroyed by Goldberg at last week's Fastlane. 

This weekend, Owens had the pleasure of facing off with Goldberg's WrestleMania challenger, Brock Lesnar, at Madison Square Garden. Unlike Goldberg at WWE Fastlanehaving to gain an advantage due to a distraction from Chris Jericho, Lesnar absolutely destroyed Owens, giving him a series of suplexes before finishing him off with an F5. Owens even tried to block one of the suplexes by hanging on the ropes, but he received a rear naked choke, followed by another suplex.

The WWE Live event was a cross promotional bout featuring members from both brands and KO managed to let his wittiness win the day once again.

A match between Owens and Lesnar could have and should have been epic, but as it is WrestleMania season, WWE had to book Lesnar to look as strong as Goldberg did just a week before. Hopefully, Owens will get a chance to have a "real" match with Lesnar after 'Mania, when The Beast is most likely holding the Universal Championship.

Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg was the first match booked for WrestleMania 33, and has reportedly been planned since last Fall. So WWE’s had plenty of time to plan out how to present the third bout between a man who (possibly chemically-enhanced or no) won a shoot fight with ranked heavyweight mixed martial artist last Summer and a guy who took his first bump in decade last Monday.

Even with the Universal championship now involved and a good chance it’ll be the last match of the night on April 2 in Orlando, most observers don’t see the rivals getting a whole lot of time for their trilogy fight. For instance, Cageside’s resident timekeeper, Cain A. Knight, predicts five minutes for Lesnar/Goldberg III.

So it’s surprising Mr. WrestleMania himself, Shawn Michaels, thinks the pair should get triple that time.

That’s... that’s a lot of time.

Now, I don’t know Michaels methodology for match length estimates. Does this count a Paul Heyman intro? Is he including entrances? A post-match stretcher job?

OPTIONS FOR JOHN CENA AT WRESTLEMANIA 33

The Miz and Maryse were guests on this week’s edition of Talking Smack show. They were at their very verbal best when it came to blasting the Bella family including John Cena and Daniel Bryan. It’s no secret that both Bryan and Miz can’t stand each other.

This is what Maryse had to offer for Cena & Nikki’s relationship: “I think they’re a fraud. I personally think that both of them are a fraud, they’re plastic, there’s nothing real about them - everything they do is to elevate their brand. "It’s all about that. It’s all about 'am I gonna look good?' I personally think that he’s with her because he needs to make himself look good.” The rumours suggest that these are some actual gossips that are nurtured by the blue brand roster members. At times, it is also being thought that Cena-Nikki’s relation might be fake, for real considering that Nikki had to sign a contract for living with the franchise of the company.

In addition, a new feud has started to pick up between Cena and Miz for Wrestlemania. It is going to be extremely personal since their real-life partners are also involved into this. As reported by cagesideseats.com, the Miz dropped 'pipe-bombs’ on the show taking a dig that John Cena and Nikki Bella’s relationship is not real and only made for live television. He added that Cena is the string-puller for every superstar’s booking on Smackdown Live.

BRAUN STROWMAN's OPTIONS AT WRESTLE MANIA 33

From his powerhouse run with The Wyatt Family to his reign as Monday Night Raw's indestructible animal, Strowman has really come into his own in WWE. But while his match with Roman Reigns at Fastlane should have put him over the edge, he instead fell behind.

Now fans are likely wondering how he will be booked on April 2.

There's still time to work up something for him, but the clock is indeed ticking. His spotlight as the unstoppable beast has dimmed now that he's proved to be human. While many likely didn't believe he would go over on Reigns at Fastlane, the opportunity was there to get Strowman up to an all-star level.

THE UNDERTAKER VS. ROMAN REIGNS

This match has to happen.

Roman Reigns has become nothing short of a modern day legend in WWE. The man who so many love to hate has outworked and outhustled nearly everyone around him. He's overcome the criticism that's rained down on him for the past two years, and he's become a better worker in WWE because of it.

If anyone deserves to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania, it's Reigns.

Taker would certainly not sign off on an opponent unless he approved, which only validates Reigns even more as a main-event level Superstar. The two men would have a hard-hitting match, and Reigns would more than hold his own against The Phenom.

The time has come to move on, and Reigns is a huge part of WWE's evolution.

The fact that he's so hated should have no bearing on WWE's work to get Reigns over. WWE simply cannot continue to exist with Superstars who are well past their primes. The time to surge forward is here, and Reigns should be the man at the forefront.

Then there's the fact that if Undertaker goes out at WrestleMania 33, he would be doing so against a guy who not only has the full support of WWE, but who can also do the most with the win.

Styles Loses To Shane-O-Mac Clean

Shane-O-Mac is beloved, but if he faces AJ Styles at WrestleMania, and wins, there will be hell to pay. Styles has more respect than any current active Superstar. Having him drop a WrestleMania match to Shane McMahon – after three farce losses to James Ellsworth in 2016 – won't sit well with me and many others in the WWE Universe.

Rusev Is Left Out Of The Pay-Per-View

All Rusev does is make the best of every feud he's placed in, yet he has somehow found himself outside of any major angle. If he isn't involved in WrestleMania 33 in any way, that's a bad look.

Braun Strowman Is Left Out Of The Pay-Per-View or Throwaway Match With The Big Show

The same can be said for Braun Strowman, only his absence would be even more egregious. Strowman's invincibility was taken too soon. He also seems like a man without a feud since Roman Reigns is apparently headed for a battle with The Undertaker.

If Strowman is just thrown into a match with The Big Show because Shaquille O'Neal can't get in shape for a WrestleMania clash, that will be the low point of the pay-per-view.

Nia Jax Is Left Out Of The Pay-Per-View

Nia Jax and Strowman's careers in the WWE seem to be running parallel. Both were presented as the next dominant super heavyweight, but both have since been beaten clean by their gender's most marketable babyface.

If I were writing the script, Nia Jax would be in the Raw Women's title match, and it would be a Fatal Four Way. Jax would win the title after a dominant performance. However, I am not, and Nia Jax may be left out in the cold.

Randy Orton Defeats Bray Wyatt

The Viper is one of the greatest workers in the history of the WWE. He's respected by just about everyone, but this is Bray Wyatt's time. If Orton ends Wyatt's title reign this quickly, it'll be a shame. If that happens, there's no telling when The Eater of Worlds will get to hold the gold again.

Lesnar Defeats Goldberg In A Quick Match

Likewise, a quick win from Lesnar won't be much better. I do believe fans will be more accepting of Lesnar winning the title, but if the match is quick, the belief that Goldberg is unable to work longer than five minutes will be validated.
